Montgomery County Libraries That Love Kids

This week and next the Montgomery County Libraries are hosting parties to celebrate the end of the Kids & Teen Summer Reading Programs. Today from 1:30-3:30pm at White Oak there is a book bash for teens, on Thursday at the Bethesda Library there is an ice cream social and puppet show from 1-2:30pm for kids, on Saturday there's another teen party at Aspen Hill Library from 2-4pm and on Tuesday 8/19 there is a popsicle and book party for kids at 7pm at Kensington Park Library.

Whew! And as a sequel to my rundown of the Silver Spring libraries
offerings for families, here are more area book heavens with great children's sections and resources.

Little Falls Library in Bethesda has a staff that is dedicated to its youngest readers (and to reading APISS - thanks!) The entire lower level is a children's room full of eclectic books and classics and good cheer. Its events schedule is chock full of storytimes for kids aged infant to six, with loads of programs for older kids as well.

The Chevy Chase Library hosts Toddler Time four times a week and books great children's performers on weekends. The kids' section has lots of toys for little ones to enjoy as older bookworm siblings choose their take.

The children's area at the Rockville Library is massive and modern. There are events for all ages, baby to teen, as well as Music Together music and movement offerings for the preschool set.

Other libraries just a short distance from Silver Spring are Bethesda, Kensington Park and Olney. All of the family and children activities hosted at all the libraries discussed in both library posts can be found on the A Parent in Silver Spring activities calendar, and on the Montgomery County Public Libraries website.
