The Montgomery County Fair Opens Friday!

The Montgomery County Fair opens Friday August 8 and continues until Saturday August 16. The Fair is an annual event not to be missed for kids of all ages. Awesome attractions include:

Live entertainment like Monster Trucks, a Demolition Derby and racing pigs on the Hogway Speedway.

Beginning August 10, there will be farm animals galore! Check out the baby animals in Old MacDonald's Barn and the 4-H kids' animals in the agriculture exhibits.

Crazy contests abound, like the toilet decorating contest sponsored by Silver Spring parent-owned Best-Hill Services, Inc. There are contests for kids like the 7 & under horseshoe pitching and the KidsBucks Game Show.

And, of course, The Midway, with all the carnival rides, games and junk food you can handle. You haven't really been to the fair until you come home with no cash, a goldfish in a plastic bag and a tummyache.

Monday, August 11th is Children's Day at the Fair. This means free fair admission for kids 12 and under 10am-4pm and all-u-can-ride-carnival wristbands are discounted by $5 from 12pm-4pm.

Driving Directions from Silver Spring

I-495 North to I-270 North (stay right for this exit towards Frederick), Merge onto I-270 Local lanes to EXIT 10-11. Take EXIT 10- the Clopper Rd / MD-117 / W Diamond Ave exit. At light turn left onto W Diamond Ave / MD-117. At next light turn left onto Perry Pkwy. Fairground entrance will be on the right; 1/2 mile.

Metro Directions
Take Red Line to Shady Grove Metro Station. Then take the following ground transportation:
Take Ride-On Bus number 55 or 59 for stops within one block of the fairgrounds.
